Same old story

August 14, 2011

Over the last two weeks, I’ve tried on a couple of outfits that I had made for me when I was last in Nigeria and they don’t fit. They aren’t just “snug” or “tight”; they can’t be put on on squeezed past certain parts of the body. I can no longer deny that I have gained weight since last fall. This morning the shirt I wore to church felt quite tight around my arms and chest.

A look at my food consumption reveals the same old story: I’m not eating many vegetables, I haven’t exercised since the end of June, I’m not paying any attention to portion sizes or satiety, and I’m consuming sugar like it’s a miracle drug or something.

I wish I could be as dedicated and focused on not gaining weight as many of my friends and colleagues are. I can of course, technically speaking: I’m just as capable as they are. The only thing is I’ve decided to be lazy about it, and less committed to making a healthy and fitter body a priority.

It’s the same old story and if my attitude doesn’t change I don’t change my attitude it’ll have the same old ending.

  1. Work and dedication…good luck

  2. Hey, how about you take part in my 40 day challenge? I am developing a 40 day exercise regime. It is simple really with workout dvds and treadmill work for the 40 days. It is just to get me back on track. I will post it in the next 2 days on my blog so if you like, we can do it together. Just a thought.
