Where I’ll be 3 weeks from today
November 6, 2009
Black Friday is USA’s version of Boxing Day, and if you remember from last year I’m quite a fan of standing in line for long hours to “get a deal”. I know some don’t actually believe that these deals are worth the sleepless night involved but for me the adventure is half the fun.
So, three weeks from now, at an ungodly hour, I will be across the border, likely waiting in line to blow my meagre savings on the following items, which I will get a fabulous deal on:
- a Kitchenaid stand mixer (although my cooking skills leave much to be desired, I can bake quite well and I think every baker should have such a mixer)
- Christmas gifts for my brothers (clothing, most likely)
- plus size clothing that is cool and not my usual shapeless garb (there is a lot more selection in the states)
- Bandolino shoes. Funny enough, I came across these shoes in Nigeria last year and they were CRAZY expensive there, so I had to leave the cutest shoes behind. Macy’s is supposed to carry some Bandolino shoes so I intend to find myself a pair or two.
- a teeny digicam that fits into my purse
- a GPS (or do I get the car first?)
Some stores, like Sears and Old Navy, already have their flyers out, to entice those of us who might have to book a day off to attend the sales a heads up. I’ve heard some of the highlights and I’m intrigued. I can’t wait until the heavy hitters like Best Buy, Target and Walmart get their flyers out too!
What will you have your eye out for on Black Friday or Boxing Day?

Yes, I know there are Bandolino shoes at Macy's, at least here in CA. I've seen them with my own eyes!
YES, you must have a stand mixer! They rock, and seem to make baking so much easier that I do it more often since buying mine. I actually want to upgrade to the Pro one someday!
For a small digital camera, may I recommend the Sony Cybershot? I've owned three different versions and each one has been awesome, with pretty good color and a quick "turnover" time–that is, the time before it lets you click the shutter again, or between clicking the shutter and the picture actually taking. They're not too expensive (a bit more than $100, I think) and I can fit mine in my front jeans pocket if I need to.
