I have a bed!
February 22, 2009
My mom has been trying to convince me to look at some furniture options for a few weeks now, and other than my one jaunt to a furniture store, I haven’t done a thing. This is sort of the story of my life, this procrastination.
Anyway, today she convinced me to accompany her and my sister to the furniture store I had been to. I went to show them the set that I really liked, and once again they sort of didn’t go into rhapsodies over my choice, but that’s ok because the price went up two hundred dollars and I’m very cranky about that.
While we were there, we also went to the “As-Is” section to see what deals could be had and oh my gosh there are DEALS! There were a few things that I was tempted to grab but I don’t have a clear idea of what my space looks like, or what my design centre choices will look like on a larger scale than those samples I selected, so I decided to wait until next month (when I will get to walk through the place) before I start shopping for the big stuff.
After that, we went to look at mattresses and found one and got a good deal on it. My parents gifted me with the mattress, some decadent pillows and a mattress pad. With my love of sleeping I know I will enjoy my bed and am so grateful to my parents for their support through the whole process.
I have so much to do still: I haven’t yet locked down a mortgage rate because (and this may be an excuse) every mortgage specialist I spoke with seemed to think that interest rates are going down and it can’t hurt to wait a few more weeks to lock something in; I still have to find insurance for the interior of my house; and I’m also planning to book an inspector to walk through the place with me during the pre-delivery inspection.
I’m looking forward to my first inspection in a few weeks. It’s just a short inspection, not the big, two-hour pre-delivery inspection that will come a week before the closing date. You better believe that I’ll take pictures and walk through the place slowly so I get a decent idea of the space. This will allow me to return to that very familiar place of indecision, where I can start spending hours deciding which shade of dark brown will be ideal for my sofas, and immediately regretting my decision once it’s set in stone and not able to be changed. I’ve missed that.

Congratulations! Where will you put it? or did u set up delivery for move day?
Congrats on your mattress, etc! A good bed is a wonderful thing! We got a great deal on our mattress…let’s see…7 years ago and I am still actively appreciating its comfyness. :)
The bag the mattress comes in is very useful for putting all the garbage that comes out of moving / unpacking … and then in the middle of the night dragging that mattress bag full of garbage to the construction dumpster … or so I’ve heard.
Can’t wait to see pics from the first inspection! And lol on the last line in this entry. :)
