Defenestrated
December 18, 2008
Things I have recently thrown out the window:
- my plans to post every day in December — not even close!
- Christmas shopping
- Christmas card making. If I manage to get my act together by tomorrow then my local friends will receive handmade cards, hopefully before Christmas. I may just say “screw it all!” and send Happy New Year cards or no cards at all (yes, I realize I sound like a pouting child).
- decorating the house for Christmas (the lights around the windows are enough, right?)
- putting up a Christmas tree (it’s December 18…is it worth braving the depths of the basement for a week or two of having the tree up? Probably.)
- maintaining my weightloss following my return from Nigeria — It’s winter and my gym membership doesn’t resume until January. You’d think with this bus strike my city is experiencing I’d be getting exercise but nope! I drive everywhere now.
- being productive at work. I need serious prayers to get my act together. I am far too easily distracted and feel like I don’t get anything done.
- crossing things off the list
- following my dermatologist‘s regime — what’s the point of spending money on the treatments if I don’t use them?
- baking up a smorgasbord of delicious treats — this may be a blessing in disguise (see 6).

I think it's a hard time of year for many, many people to feel like they're getting stuff done. I hope you have time for some relaxation and fun!
What?! You have a christmas Tree and its not up?! Why Jummy!? Why!? :(
I agree, number 10 is a blessing in disguise! Maybe try to pare down your list to one or two essentials so you don't feel too overwhelmed?
I will be sad not to receive one of your handmade Christmas cards – last year's was so nice – but I think you should mark at least 3,4 and 10 off the list :)
The holidays are hectic enough without piling on so many "must dos".
Merry Christmas Jummy
