Top signs that your real estate agent isn’t a good fit

September 3, 2008

She calls your choice of neighbourhood (a developing one at that) a “project”.

When you tell her you aren’t comfortable spending a certain amount of money to buy a new house, she tells you that you can always put your pride aside and buy a 15 or 20 year old place, or tells you that you can always rent forever

When you express uncertainty she tells you that you can’t live at home forever.

When you again mention the money, she asks if your parents would help you out if you were in a bind. When you say they would she looks at you as if to say “See? What’s the problem?” (Um, well, just because my parents would do what they can to help me doesn’t mean that they should have to).

But enough about that.

I called my agent to break the news to her (that I didn’t want the house I had put a reserve on), and she took it well. I got my cheque back and everyone will live happily ever after.

And this will be the last entry about houses for a while. You have suffered enough.

  1. I'm happy u decided not to spend all that money on something u did not love. Good job. Hopefully u can get a house u are excited about.

  2. Don't be afraid to talk about what's going on in your life here on your blog – even if it's more about houses! :)

I hope something fun comes your way this weekend. You could do with a fun-break, I think.

  3. Sounds like you need a new realtor. Any of your friends have any rec's? I can ask around for you if you want. Ours was wonderful. In the business for 28 years…the experience showed. Good luck Miss!
