I love babies, so I’m glad that my friend has one that I can get to know. I’ve only seen the little guy twice: when he was a day old and a week after that, so I’m sure when I see him next he’ll seem enormous to me—babies grow so fast! He’s over a month old now, so hopefully he’s sleeping like a champ and giving his mom some peace.

During my visit weeks ago, the proud dad took some pictures of my sister and I with the baby. I really like these pictures because they aren’t posed—I just get kind of schmoopy around babies. (Ok, in one I’m turning Luka toward the camera because I know he’s the main attraction of the photo).

I know, I’m not supporting his head very well. It had been a while since I held a baby for longer than a second, and perhaps he sensed that and was expressing his displeasure with my holding skills. I have to admit that babies shrieking (when I know all is well) amuses me because really, they have no idea that the world will give them plenty of real reasons to cry.

There’s something about a sleeping, peaceful baby that makes me smile. In fact, I bet Baby Holding would be a great form of therapy for people who deal with stress in their lives (aka everyone).

This is my favourite picture. I love his little bottom and feet, and that my eyes are closed.

The only thing is, he’s got to work on his tan a bit more…I’ll give him a few more years:
