Last entry (today) about the race
May 30, 2008
My dad and sister were at the home stretch of the race to snap pictures of me (as you saw) but not at right at the finish line. I suspect they don’t let family members stand right beyond the finish line to capture their loved ones for a reason (fear of granny being trampled by a runner trying to break their personal record, perhaps?). But never fear, some sophisticated technology is in place (or were they invisible people, or were they visible, but I was too dazed/pooped to notice them?) that allows your amazing finish to be captured.
Behold, then, snapshots of me lumbering to the finish line and slightly beyond:

(Sometime between pictures two and three, I considered letting out a whoop or holler, but didn’t.)
The pictures are not very big, are they? For a fee (naturally!), I can order higher quality prints, so high in quality that you can count the individual drops of sweat on my forehead and behold my pink cheeks (I know! Can you imagine? My sister said when I finished the race I was sporting pink cheeks!). I was lucky to get these shots actually: it was good old Rich who managed to snatch them from the photo site (I told him not to but he’s into illegal shenanigans like that!).

Kushe! Great job on finishing, that's all that really counts.
I know right??? For a HUGE fee, they want you to pay for pics family and friends can take for free. For that, i'll run up and down my street and ask minime to snap a quick shot. *hiss*
Oh, yay! Those pictures are too cute and I'm glad you got them without having to pay. Congrats again on finishing!
Also, they don't allow family members at the finish line so that you can't take good pictures yourselves, I bet. So that you'll be more likely to pay for theirs. They don't care about grannies getting trampled.
Hooray for friends with no morals!!!! :D Great pics!
So how close to the finish line WERE family members allowed? I'd find a way if I were there… LOL. I'm always sneaking around places trying to get good photos :D
