Nothing wrong with cleavage! As long as it is "tastefully done". Sexy is in and why not flaunt your body in a sexy engagement shoot. Engagement shoots give an opportunity for the photographer to get a feel for how you move and respond to the camera. It is also an opportunity for your photographer to explore how comfortable in front of the camera and with you! I always recommend a photographer who can do both photojournalism type photos and slightly posed photos. By that I mean, ones where they put you into a situation (set up the scene) and let your natural chemistry go from there! The result is natural believe it or not!

You know what's weird, that word means to stick together, AND to separate. It's its own antonym. Wow. We did an engagement session in our photographer's studio. I'm glad we did, because it was a great portrait of us and matted it for signatures at our wedding. But in retrospect I would have used a different photographer and done something more like what you describe. We have not gotten engagement photos. Maybe we should, but I figure if we ever feel the need to have professional photos taken of ourselves other than at our wedding, we can hire a photographer after we're married and do it then.

We went with a photojournalistic style photographer, too. He did my sister's wedding and I loved the photos. I'm excited to see what ours end up looking like. I also keep waiting for his name to pop up in one of the blogs I read. So far it hasn't.

We didn't get engagement photos, and I don't regret it. They always look really POSED to me, so as to properly display the ring. Who sits like that?

However, cameras were constantly flashing at every event (engagement party, all three showers, bridesmaid lunch, rehearsal dinner), so I don't have a lack of pictures.

I think you had plenty of photo ops and you probably got a lot of different perspectives too, so that's nice.

Like you I'm not crazy about overly posed pictures!

Yes, we had an engagement photo done. And you'll be shocked (not) at the reason. Because my mother said we had to. *rolls eyes* So off we headed to Wal-Mart. *snap* $9.99 (or was it $9.97 – Rollback). And she was able to put our photo in the paper. Getting "couple-y" photos done is not our style, even for wedding photos…just not us. But I am, as you know, getting mat photos done. So, to each their own!

I think the traditional sort of photos that you and your husband had done are ideal for newspapers, while the photojournalistic style doesn't work well for that. I saw your wedding pictures and I have to admit it's the least posed one of the two of you that I love the most!

There's nothing wrong with cleavage, Jummy. Embrace the cleavage, EMBRACE IT!!!

Since I too am a wedding "fan," I'm definitely going to do engagement photos as well as to document the entire 'getting married' process.

Hmm, my cleavage says "Cover me up and don't even try embracing or celebrating me!" Who am I to disobey?

If you do get pics done for the reason you say, I think the photojournalistic style is the only way to go!
