My hair straightener still hasn’t arrived and I’m getting worried. Perhaps someone at the post office took an x-ray of the box, discovered its contents and took it home? I wouldn’t blame them: after all, it is 2008 and who doesn’t want to start off the new year with what will hopefully be an unending string of good hair days?

I’m cheap, so instead of ordering the straightener and getting it delivered to my house in the wilds of Canada, I got it delivered to my friend’s house, because she lives in the USA and it’s free to ship things from Folica to US addresses (but if I had it shipped to my house, I’d have to pay for shipping and duty! Oh, the injustice!). Friend received it within 3 days (hooray for fast service!), but since Friend is a super smart and very busy law student, she was pretty bogged down with exams and in class until after the post office closed, so I wasn’t expecting it before Christmas. She mailed it a couple of days after Christmas and I still haven’t gotten it. Granted there was New Year’s Day in between all that and I did tell Friend to send it by the cheapest and most secure way, and I did mention that I was in no rush (and I’m not, I’m just being impatient), and I have no idea how much time my friend was told the shipping would take but waiting is so hard (especially when you’re waiting for something that might Change Your Life.

I just hope that it’s in transit and hasn’t been snatched by anyone!
