I’ve been doing a lot of blog-related reading lately. I got the book The IT Girl’s Guide to Blogging with Moxie for Christmas so I’m reading that (and yes, I’m hoping there’s a prequel entitled How to be an IT Girl). My preferred reading (blogwise) are the sites of personal bloggers who write about their lives in ways that make me feel woefully inadequate (but still I read!). More often than not, I am finding that someone’s comment on a blog I’m reading prompts me to check out their blog, and from there I’m whizzing off to yet another person’s blog until I can’t recall where I started.

Aside from personal blogs, I’ve been reading blogs about blogging (you know, to make sure I’m doing this correctly) and blogs about making WordPress themes (templates) that are stunning, sleek and just plain hot. The kind of design that leaves you ooohing and aaahing at their beauty to the point where the content of the blog is secondary (until you get over the beauty of the design, that is). In my searches, I came across R. Bhavesh’s site and his WP Premium theme that happens to be free. I downloaded it and uploaded it to my blog and it’s gorgeous, but I don’t think my blog is quite ready for it yet. But Bhavesh has also created a super fancy shmancy WordPress theme called WP Remix that will allow you more flexibility with your blog design than you thought possible. I want to start a new blog that I think something like this WP Remix theme would be perfect for it. This theme isn’t free (it can be yours for $55), but he’s giving away a free copy so of course I had to put my name down and hope that I’ll be the lucky winner (but I won’t be mad if you enter and win MY prize!).

What I like about this theme is you could just upload it and use it as is, but the customization options appear to be endless, and I’d get to tinker around while knowing that I have all the important structural elements down. I figure the theme will save me 20 years of brain wracking, and several gallons of frustrated tears.
