Updates, take 2

November 28, 2007

Thank you for commenting on what I should do with the money. Tomorrow I will call the Hair Gallery and see what they can do for me with my funds. If the price is outrageous, I will treat myself to a visit with the better of my two current hairdressers (better only because she does not coat my scalp and strands in copious amounts of oil). If I do go to the Hair Gallery, I want to come back with something different but still long enough to put up in a bun if I roll out of bed 20 minutes before I’m supposed to be on the bus (my current routine). It’s taken me over 15 years to grow my hair to its current length (that’s right: I’ve never cut my hair, only trimmed it and it’s still only barely shoulder length!) so I don’t think I’m ready for a pixie cut quite yet.

I’d like to share some updates on some other things going on in my life, lest you think they’ve fallen by the wayside as things tend to do chez Jummy.

Rulking
As much as I’d like this to fall by the wayside, it refuses to. I haven’t run at all in just over a week and I think about it every day: not because I’m addicted to it and miss the adrenaline rush, oh no. I think about it daily because I’m running a 5K in six short months and I don’t see how I can possibly complete it.

On December 18 I’m going to a workshop on how to handle running in the winter. I hope to find out that there is a handy racetrack near my house that I can use.

When I last mentioned running, I said I was going to try the treadmill in our basement…soon. I haven’t yet; I’m scared! But I vow to get on it soon (I know, I said that last time). Honest! And I’ll even get my sister to take pictures of me looking confident and athletic on it…just before it takes on a life of its own and flings me against the refrigerator behind it.

Running is at a temporary standstill but is constantly on my mind. All attempts to avoid thinking about it are in vain.

Christmas
I’m so excited because this Sunday my sister and I are hosting a gingerbread house making party. It should be a barrel of fun: we first had one of these parties in 1995 and everyone had fun. What’s neat is two of my friends and one of my sister’s friends who were at that first party will be at this one too and they are proof that we can maintain long friendships! I’m going to try and find the pictures from the last event and see if we can get some comparisons going.

Anyhow, there will be a total of eight of us around the table. The plan is to make a music mix of Christmas songs and other songs, and just hang out eating the world’s yummiest veggies, finger foods and cookies and of course assemble our own gingerbread houses. It should be a good time. I also want to get some Christmas decorations up and our (fake) Christmas tree. I have a lot to do for this event and I took Friday off mostly to prepare for it.

Blog issues (”save the most boring and uninteresting for last” is my motto)
I’m trying to get all my blog entries since I started blogging in November of 2002 together in one spot, and that one spot would be on this domain. I’m trying to understand how I can see my entries from 2004-2006 at http://ooof.ca/journal/blog but when I login to Movable Type they aren’t there! If they aren’t there, I can move them. I need help and I have no idea where to turn. I have posted my issues on the MT forum but since the helper folk are other users or volunteers (I think), and get a million other more straightforward questions, I’m sure mine is at the bottom of the list. It’s still frustrating. I’m worried if one day I’ll go to http://ooof.ca/journal/blog and the entries will have vanished. Oh well.

I wonder if there’s a express lineup for people with 10 or fewer braincells…

  1. There’s a running track a stones throw away from your house at SRB. Not sure if it’s plowed in the winter though. Too bad if it’s not! Otherwise…you have that treadmill!! ;)

  2. the gingerbread making party sounds like fun.
Way to get in the holiday mood!
