Quite boring in these parts

October 25, 2007

What’s been going on with me? Thanks for asking! In the past couple of weeks I have:

  • Designed halloween cards and Christmas cards (see them here and here)
  • Signed up for NaBloPoMo and donated two prizes (if you guessed that I will be giving away two sets of marble magnets, you guessed right)
  • Made a new friend through the crafty blog who I will likely meet in the new year.
  • Pondered whether I have to take up running in order to own this watch:

(I’m thinking the fact that I know someone who gets a great discount on it means I don’t have to take up running)

On the topic of running (you know, the topic I mentioned way back here?), I went for a walk recently and thought that I should try to run. Almost every time I go for a walk, I have the urge to run a bit, but I never do. I don’t even try it for 15 seconds, just to see if I can. I can’t figure out if I’m scared that I won’t be able to run, or if I’m scared that I’ll enjoy it. Whichever it is, I still haven’t managed to run, except to catch a bus. I know I can run, at least a short bursts, and I used to sprint back in the day but as a method of keeping fit? I seem to have a mental block.

What have you been up to?

  1. Why, thanks for asking, Joomy!

I can NOT run at all, so I haven't been doing that.

And other than not running and sleeping when I can, I've just been working, working, working.

    Ho-Hum!

A wholesome country girl like you? I bet you could run if you gave it a try! Surely horseback riding has improved your fitness?

Here's hoping you add more fun and less work into your daily life soon.

  2. I'm having the same trouble with the learn-to-run thing…

And I'm eating far too much chocolate at the moment…

For me, it's Mike and Ikes that are destroying me.

  3. If you actually want to learn to run, google couch to 5k plan.

Thanks, Shannon. I actually came across this plan on somebody's blog and although it's meant for the beginner, it's a bit intimidating. I read somewhere that it's good to do something that scares you so maybe this is what I need!

  4. I know this is a very old entry for you, and I admit that I haven't read into the future yet. I started in your archive somewhere and I'm working my way forward.

So by now you're probably running marathons and what I'm about to suggest will make me look like an ass, but I think it is important enough that I'm going to risk it.

When I started running, I did two minutes at a time. I started out two minutes walking, two running, two walking – up to ten minutes. The beautiful thing was that I could see the end of the two minutes coming so I could push myself to make it to the end.
