At last…my blog has come alive
September 3, 2007
What can you do with 16 solid hours of free time?
Well, you could clean your room (or home for those of you who are not 28 and still living at home), file your taxes (for those of you who haven’t yet done so-shame!), hang out with friends, start packing away your summer clothing for another year, take out your fall clothing, go for a walk, plan the week’s meals, call up, email or write those people you haven’t talked to in some time, update the blogs that you signed a contract to update…
Or, you could work on putting up a unique design for your blog.
Can you guess which one I did?
I’m pretty excited that I have finally done this, because God knows I’ve been dying/trying to for years. Literally. I had a lot of hangups about the whole process:
- I didn’t want to start small for some reason, I wanted something grand and awe-inspiring from the get-go. I’m over that now and this new design is my way of starting small.
- I didn’t want to modify an existing template; I had this need to understand what goes where and why. I don’t get it all yet but it’s definitely a case of practice makes perfect.
- I had this desire to read every book ever made on CSS and XHTML before daring to design a site, and I discovered that those big thick computer reference books are just that: reference books. You can read up on plenty online, sure, but this whole trial and error business is the backbone of webdesign!
So, please look around and feel free to give me any pointers/point out broken links/feign that you’re impressed. I’ll take it all…in the comments!

Cool, I like it – nothing over the top, text is easy to read, Are the flowers the ones you've used in some of your recent magnets? :)
Hey, I Googled "ooof" – found things called ooof balls… LOL, I'll probably end up calling you that now – ya ooof ball… :P
Thanks Denise! Good eye, I scanned the paper that I make magnets from for part of the banner design. Actually, you're a bit of a whiz with Photoshop, aren't you? Hmm…. ;)
And ooof ball would actually be a pretty appropriate nickname most of the time…it sounds appropriate, anyway! :D
Fantastic! Way to go in making your new look!
Thank you, RA. Thanks for the help too!
your getting some good compliments joomers.
Recently people said of "goofys" web page that
they thought it was designed in 1994
hehaw
LOL, well now that you're between jobs, you have some time to spruce up the site! How long have I been telling you to read up on design and try and freelance?
Good job! Looks great!
Thank you kindly! You were one of the many examples that I have looked up to design-wise so I thank you :)
I really, really, really like this look. Nice stuff :)
Thank you very much, Miz Suze! I am counting on being able to pick your brain for Photoshop help!
It looks great! Congrats on getting it done! =)
Thank you very much! Do you remember how long you've been telling me to just do it? :)
I love it, Joomy! I'm so jealous of you! I'm stuck with my same old blogger stuff and YOU have your own place and a supercool design!
Now you can make me one!!
I bet if I teach you how to do this you'll have a snazzier site than mine in no time!
Awesome! And I see that WG is back – so I might as well test my luck with "feign" ;)
Good luck with the WG…now I just have to remember to check my calendar in the mornings!
