Sisterspeak

August 28, 2007

A conversation between my sister and I back in January.  Eight months later nothing much has changed.

You can tell we’re sisters because our conversation shows the classic hallmarks of a conversation between siblings, the 2 I’s of conversing with a sibling:  insults and inside jokes.

(We don’t actually add slashes to our conversation; I just did that to indicate that things had been typed on separate lines)

Jummy: hey tayter tots!

Tayo: hi / where are you

Jummy: in my room /  whaddaya think?

Tayo: jk

Jummy: lol at you talking on the internet

Tayo: i know / so weird

Jummy: lol

Tayo: lol / lol / lol / I suck

Jummy: LOSER / yeah you do

Tayo: ouch / low blow / I didn’t know you could do this on gmail

Jummy: well you want the truth or what?

Tayo: no wonder its better than hotmail / or what

Jummy: i LOVE IT

Tayo: I know / awesome / I have to get out of the dark ages

Jummy: you should buy your own computer / and split the internet costs with me

Tayo: yeah right

Jummy: no, i’m serious

Tayo: maybe

Jummy: just get into it…you’ll need to improve your computer ability for jobs anyway / or get dad to sell you his laptop or something

Tayo: that’s true / maybe

Jummy: we’ll see i guess

Tayo: yup / I miss you /  lol

Jummy: LOSER / have you been thinking about me?

Tayo: maybe

Jummy: “i’ve been thinking aboutchu”

Jummy: lmao / lol / you on the internet are pure comedic gold!

—time elapses—

Tayo: yo

Tayo: scary

Jummy: it really is

Tayo: yeah / I guess / I hate that we’re so behind in things

Jummy: tell me about it

Tayo: I hate that people we grew up with are way ahead of us in life / But we can’t let that discourage us / who know what will happen in a couple of years

Jummy: yup! we must keep moving / yup, nobody knows except God

Tayo: yup

Jummy: just have to breathe and keep going

Tayo: that’s right / you’ve accomplished many other things so far / make a list of those

Jummy: yeah yeah

Tayo: then a list of what else needs to be done / you know all the cliches and platitudes you love so much / but they are true / that’s the thing it sounds so easy

Jummy: well…we’ll see / may 2007 be the year for us both

Tayo: maybe see ya upstairs

Jummy: ciao!
