Then comes marriage…
June 17, 2007

Nora and Jeff have wed and it was a lovely wedding. While things didn’t start quite on time, nothing starts until the bride arrives, so we were fine. The weather cooperated too: bright and sunny and I’m sure the official pictures will turn out beautifully.
There were no major mishaps to report, the food was delicious, the cake a visual and gustatory delight, and enough dancing for everyone who was inclined to come on the dance floor. The groom was his usual affable self and the bride was very calm and was definitely channeling her inner peace and serenity, which helped those family and wedding party members who were getting a bit excited calm down (somewhat).
Memories I’ll take away from the wedding:
- •the bride and groom walking into the reception hall, surrounded by belly dancers, two of which were wearing elaborate head dresses that had lit candles on them, like an old fashioned chandelier
- •the maid of honour’s speech–particularly the opening that talked about the bride’s propensity toward lateness
- •me walking down the aisle and being cheered having my name called by a bunch of friends. I cracked a joke to let them know I wasn’t the bride and people laughed. That was fun.
- •the bride and groom’s dance, and how it transitioned from a typical first dance into a salsa number
- •the ring bearer cheering on his dad (who was the best man) and he gave his speech about the groom
- •the best man dancing with his toddler niece (he’s 6′6)
I had a good time and I think the bride and groom did too. I can’t wait to see all the pictures that everyone else took of the event.
Next on their list? A house…they get the keys to their brand new house in two days!

Thanks girl!

Thank you,
Nora
