Good day!

The sun is shining and the street sweepers are out:  spring is surely here!

(It’s still cold in the wind but the sun is shining with just enough brightness to coax you outside)

I am looking forward to this weekend because it’s a chance for me to throw off the jog trot of every day life.  That’s right: tomorrow morning I, along with my sister and a friend are off to visit our province’s capital, Toronto.  Toronto is to Canada what New York City is to the USA:  more people, more things to do, more everything (such as Nigerians, but also crime and other nasty things).  If you want to lead the Canadian version of the life depicted in chick lit books, where girls work for ad agencies and the like, and sip lattes all day but still manage to own a beautiful condo and buy designer clothing, and end up hooking up with men who look like movie stars (or are movie stars), you’d do that in Toronto.

Our main reason for going to Toronto will be revealed when I return.  Let’s just say that my sister and I are going because we haven’t been to Toronto since we were in our very early teens and never ever explored downtown Toronto.  Ever.  The shopping is supposed to be good and they have an H&M too, which I must check out (I’m told they may have something to fit me there beside socks)!

I’m worried that the majority of my pictures from this trip will be images of my sister actually spending money, because, trust me:  this doesn’t happen often.

Tomorrow night we’ll go out for dinner, just the three of us and then try to get to the Eaton Centre for some shopping (basically we’ll scope out the places we want to return to).  On Saturday night a friend who is eager to show off his condo and his big screen tv (Hi Adam!) has invited us to go out for dinner with his girlfriend and himself.  I’ve practiced some appropriately excited squeals of excitement upon viewing his home theatre, but I won’t deafen you with them quite yet.

You’d think by know he’d have clued in to the fact that the only screens that turn my crank are computer screens.

  1. We don't have an H&M in Vancouver, but apparently they do in Edmonton…that seems strange to me. It's probably at the West Edmonton Mall.
