I wonder if this’ll work
March 23, 2007
Thank you all for your concern and positive wishes expressed following the theft of our van. We haven’t received any updates on the situation but I’ve heard stories that run the gamut of the different sorts of endings to this story that we can expect. My parents, especially my mom, seem to be doing alright now: my dad has always been pretty good at not dwelling on things that can’t be changed and it’s nice to see my mom following his lead. We’ll let the police do their job. In the meantime a car has been rented so at least we can all get from point A to B without too much difficulty.

In a scant month it’ll be time to pay taxes again and this year I’m determined to file my taxes on time. As God is my witness I’ll never procrastinate on the filing of my taxes again [especially if I know I owe money]! Did you know that back in the olden days you could be asked to work on some project that tax dollars are used to cover (such as highway construction or repair) in lieu of paying taxes? I wonder what sort of corvée would be equivalent today to the taxes I owed last year: a couple of months of working full time in retail or the equally palatable [ha ha] industry of fast food, no doubt. And with the money I’d save I’d be able to afford a nice coffin for when the customers drive me into an early grave.

I was invited to join facebook by some people and when I first joined I figured that like hi5, I’d be active for a while and then only check when I get an email informing me that some action has taken place on facebook. This has not been the case and it’s clear to me now why people call it crackbook: it’s at least as addictive. It’s kind of fun to discover where highschool and university acquaintances and friends have gone. It’s mind boggling: I can’t believe that next year will mark 10 years that I have been out of highschool. I feel like so much has happened in the lives of everyone else in my graduating class except me: marriages, babies born, people who’ve discovered their sexual identity, others who’ve decided to mimic cloistered nuns with their lifestyles (ahem), all sorts of things! And it’s pretty strange to discoer that colleagues who seem so mild mannered and tame at work have secret lives (with photo evidence) full of things that you might not expect.

It’s Friday at last. This week holds the distinction of being a week where I went to bed after 1:45am each night. I’m not sure how it happened but it did. Consistently. I’m sure I’ll be spending tonight catching up on my sleep for the weekend.
[The title is further proof of my addiction: I've altered the 'Category' listing on my blog in such a way that each category has individual RSS feeds and so I can link the 'Mundane' category to my facebook. Please send help.]

Crackbook it is, for sure! I love it though! It's fun to peep in on people, seeing what (and who) they're doing now. Or what they're NOT doing, lol!
I've been reunited with some really good friends from the past who I lost touch with and we already have a reunion dinner planned for April. Can't wait!
Oh, I am so holding out on the facebook. I AM NOT GETTING FACEBOOK.
Nope. I refuse. And I don't understand the point either, not to be a facebook crank, but anyhow. Perhaps it's because I'm not as addicted as everyone else in the world…..
I am strong.
Your praise of me can carry on in light of my newfound strength…
but why have you not confirmed that you are my friend on facebook? are you not my friend?! :P
wordy gurdy gurdy word: corvee…
corvée for wg: im obsessed with seeing that van returned
in good shape! keep me updated!
