Another Christmas gone but not yet forgotten

Christmas treats (Click for notes on who gave what!)
I had a lovely Christmas and I hope yours was just as warm and pleasant.
We have gotten into the habit of opening gifts later in the day, usually around noon, and it is quite pleasant to be able to sleep in. Now that my brothers are old enough that waking up at 6 or 7 in the morning is no longer a thrill [I guess a late night of heavy drinking has that effect on people], it means that people can wake up when they want and we can putter around doing nothing until we all decide that it’s time to open gifts. I have to admit that my brothers were getting pretty antsy, especially when the phone kept ringing and my mom kept trying to call Nigeria to wish our family a Merry Christmas. I also now like being showered and clean before opening gifts.
As usual, generous friends and family made receiving gits fun. I have this shopping habit that means that by the time Christmas comes along, I don’t really need or want anything, and the things that I want are sort of out of the price range of most people [car, house, ipod]. I did manage to come up with a list of things that I wanted and I was blessed enough to receive it all. I also got a lovely necklace from my parents with a Swarovski crystal pendant. I love how it sparkles in the light [do I sound like a commmercial or what?].
The picture in this entry proves that my friends and sister are on to the fact that I enjoy skittles. This is the largest stash of candy I have ever received in my life. We can only hope that I will go easy on my pancreas and not attempt to consume this whole collection in a short period of time.
I was pleased that the gifts that I got my family were well received.
My Christmas disappointments were that I didn’t end up mailing out cards more than once [and I didn't have Laura's mailing address in time for that earlier mailing!] so I didn’t send out as many cards as I would have liked to. I also didn’t use my Christmas stencils and “snow” spray paint that I had wanted to try out. I hope it’ll keep till next year. I also didn’t bake more than once, and I didn’t make cute little packages of edibles for the friends that I had wanted to. I did manage to make packages of storebought treats for work colleagues, and I gave a few batches of magnets out so it wasn’t all a loss.
Shannon and I have decided to have a card making/marble magnet making party sometime next fall so that by the time it comes to mail out Christmas cards and gifts, I’ll be prepared! I can’t wait.

Don't worry. You can send me one next year! Sending hugs and new year greetings. I love your candy stash.
oh my! you hit the motherlode on candy! im glad i wasnt the only devil
who tempted you with the treats! great pics! happy new yearrrrrrrrr!
I just saw that you got Dear John! Now, it's not as much of a tear jerker as his books normally are…it took about 200 pages to get the eyes wet. But still, a VERY good book. Enjoy!
Wow, I can't beleive all the candy! That's awesome!
Hey Can we add a gingerbread making party to the mix?!
