My favourite regrets

November 27, 2006

Sure, dwelling on regrets is a waste of time, unless it’s possible to go back and actually change the outcome.  In most cases, the incident has come and gone and really, moving on and not simmering in it is the way to go.

For fun though, I thought I’d share some of my biggest (called ‘favourite’ to put a positive spin on things!) regrets:

  • Not keeping in touch with various friends over the years, in particularly Juliana and Quincey K from grade school
  • Not taking swimming lessons back when I was 8-9 years of age
  • Not keeping up with my track and field from grade 6
  • Not having a boyfriend in my teen years
  • Not going away for school
  • Studying biochemistry in school
  • Not buying that car that I had an opportunity to buy about 8 years ago
  • Not doing more extra curricular things in highschool
  • Not giving the guy at the party two years ago my phone number

That’s a pretty innocuous list and perhaps the results of doing these actions would have altered my life so much that I wouldn’t even be a blogger but who knows:  maybe I would have discovered blogging sooner.  It’s a bit freaky to think that if I didn’t have these regrets, I would likely not be this version of Jummy today.

Would I be happier?
