The weekend my legs decided they hated me

Friday
After going to the gym for the first time last week, I spent Friday night in bed with Phil, Dr Phil’s book that is. I can’t remember what else I did so I assume it was nothing. The other thing I did was make a gym date for Saturday morning with my friend who is dying to whip me into shape. He’s a great personal trainer; I’m just lazy.
Saturday
I woke up early for my gym date, only to find out my wouldbe trainer had slept in. I arranged to go for a walk in the local park after the gym session. The gym was hard, as it always is with my trainer. When I go by myself, I stick to the machines that have pictures on them, showing you how to use the machines without having 80lbs of metal crashing down on me and breaking my bones. I leave the “pit”, a lower level full of weight lifting machines (think no necked guys who spend two hours every day pumping iron), for the guys. I’ll only venture down there when I’m with my friend.
We worked on legs: calves, thighs, working all those different muscles that I don’t know the names of. It was hard; I definitely felt the strain and walking was a little hard afterwards. So I should perhaps have postponed hiking.
I didn’t. And 10km (TEN!!!) and over three hours later, I arrived back where the car was parked, seething, aching and starved out of my mind (a muffin and a juice is not enough fuel for an adventure of the sort we had). I don’t think women of my dimensions are meant to be hiking about, talk less in the hot sun, with insufficient amounts of water and improper clothing. It was an experience though and it did give us an opportunity for conversation, to bask in the sun and feed some apparently starving mosquitos. I stopped counting the number of bites I acquired after I reached twenty. My upper arms (the worst hit area) look like I have a breakout of the chicken pox. Hopefully this cream of my mom’s helps.
It is Vesna’s birthday today but the partying was done on Saturday so I was off to a birthday party within 20 minutes of arriving home. Dinner (Sri Lankan! And I actually ate it!) was yummy, though I have to admit that the best part was the suprise that one of the diners paid for everyone’s meal! We had a coffee break after dinner, and then it was time to dance.
I had a great time, although my legs weren’t too thrilled with this. I like to dance. A lot. So nothing short of a broken back would have stopped me from dancing. So I danced. And sweated. And danced. And today I am paying for it.
My legs are so sore that I can’t climb stairs without difficulty. I hobble and I can’t run. But I’m sure it’ll go away soon; I’m just trying to get some sympathy comments going! And in exchange for your sympathy, I’ll share some pictures.

I’d share the pictures from the club but they were deemed too risqué for my blog. (Truth: I protect the camera like a new born babe and didn’t dare bring it to the club).

aaaww.. Nice pics..
as regards the gym, Good luck gurl.. Im yet to commence on mine again.
Did yu say you danced.. ohh.. those pains are gonna go.. trust me.. just tell urself, the dancing has burnt 80 calories, which makes up for your cardio workout.. So its all good.. tomorrow.. all that pain is gonna go..
Cool pics!
Sounds like a fun, and fitness filled weekend! Do your legs feel any stronger now?
So what did you think of the food? Sri Lankan eh? hmmm haven't been there before, do you recommend it?
Hmmm, you are one juggernaut! :P With sore limbs and body, you still hit the club!
I'm glad you really did work out though. Good for you! A steady routine will do it!
Hello!
Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but here is the story of my dog called Shandy.
He was my favourite pet and he was very lively, lots of fun and very obedient. His main
passion in life was to be taken for a long walk, culminating with a big run out in his favourite
park. I would try to take him on this walk everyday, weather permitting. The park itself
was about three miles away from our house. What do you think?
Wow, I've found the same to be true too! Where did you get that at?
Bye, bye – Wendy!
