How far does $22.50 go?*

September 18, 2006

I can’t take part in Blingo and the air miles process is too slow for words.

So what is a girl supposed to do when she wants to reap the rewards of being a faithful patron of her local drug store?

Cash in her optimum points, that’s what!

I had a shopping spree last night to the tune of 75,000 points ($150 worth of product on a good day but it was $200 for this weekend!).  I have the shopper’s optimum visa card too so that helps with the point accumulation. It took two hours and a lot of mathematics in my head but I ended up getting the following items:

  • 8L of milk
  • 2 dozen eggs
  • 2 tubs of margarine (non hydrogenated!)
  • 1lb of butter
  • vitamins for my dad
  • 200 tablets of extra strength aspirin
  • 3 bonus-sized boxes of feminine delights
  • a local map (laminated)
  • the latest O magazine
  • face cream
  • face wash
  • two sets of eyeshadow palettes
  • clear lipgloss
  • silvery necklace
  • body butter
  • body lotion
  • toothpaste
  • a treat for each sibling
  • gum
  • chips (I don’t even like chips!  Classic case of shopping whilst famished, always a horrible idea)

I wanted to get some iron pills but they had sold out.  And if I didn’t already have a camera, I could have traded my points towards a pretty decent one for a good price.  Or an ipod nano.  Oh how I love the points!

And this joy will be mine once again in 55,000 points.  This time I’m going to note how long it takes me to get back up there.

*The title refers to the cost of all that bounty…I had to pay the taxes

  1. LMAO at the huge boxes of diapers, I mean, pads!!!!

How fun! I thought about going but didn't know how many points I even had to spend!

  2. Unfortunately I LOVE chips. Yummmmmm.

  3. Sounds like you are fully utilizing *that* system!

  4. Wow – awesome! Way to go, looks like a good variety! =)

Thanks for letting me know about it. My bounty was half the cost, but only half the points. Guess you didn't go for the nano, eh?

  5. Ah, lovely! You could pass the chips here and I'd be a 'chip'munk for you, in a while! :) They were your 'points', so you deserve it. Did you get a big-booty car to haul all those items home? :P

Why'd you want an iPod Nano? What happened to your mp3 player (I guess you had one)?
