Yes, I am that cheap, thrifty rather

August 15, 2006

10 days ago I bought this domain (+ hosting) and it has brought nothing but joy to my heart [if one doesn't count the web design woes].

Yesterday, I picked up the free local computer magazine and to my surprise, the very hosting plan that I had just bought nine days prior is $3 cheaper per month for people who read this particular magazine!  I went to the link they had advertised to check if this was in fact true and you now save a dollar more per month than they had advertised!  That’s right:  I could now save almost $50 ($48 for those who are counting) by taking advantage of this offer.

Some people would sneer and scoff at saving a measly $36 or  $48 but not I.  I know my rights:  I have 30 days to cancel the account so I called up my host, explained the situation, tried to put a “I don’t want to inconvenience you, I know I have 30 days to cancel, just credit my account” spin on things.

They refused and said I had to talk to their billing department which is conveniently closed (hehehe…I know that billing only works 9-5).

You had best believe that I will be calling them tomorrow morning, bright and early.

  1. Yep. I'd be doing that too. Like at the Gap. Return, instant rebuy. Go for it.

  2. Hey now!

    I'm all abotu the discounts!

I'm just not as ambitious as you. I have no patience for dealing with companies over something that will only save me something worth the cost of a pack of cigarettes.

Case in point? My medical insurance people. I recently got a script for seventeen dollars. I hate my insurance company. I can't imagine anything worse than spending time on hold with them. So I just suck up the seventeen dollars than deal with an assinine corporation.

But really, I admire you people who have what it takes to deal with customer service reps. I just don't have it in me.
