Welcome to my new home

Do all first posts of mine have to be cheesy?
It’s been less than two years since I set up my Movable Type account and now I’ve moved to my own domain! I’m sure that given all the hullabaloo I raised about finding the perfect domain name, and my legendary procrastination skills, it may surprise some that I actually:
a) bought a domain and hosting (for a year!)
b) settled on a domain name.
I wanted a name that represented me yet also referred to the many quirky aspects of my character (my boyfriendless state, my atrocious procrastination habits, my packrat tendencies, my inability to avoid a good deal, my love of the internet, my moodiness in the morning). Apparently such a word (that also needed to be easy to remember and short) did not exist so I decided to go with my initials.
Yup, OOOF is the initials of my given name. My first name, Jumoke, has been shortened to Jummy by family all my life but my full first name is actually Olajumoke, which means “a child is a source of wealth”. Nice eh?
[For the interested: my name is Nigerian, more specifically Yoruba in orgin]
I am pretty excited that I finally did it: I wanted to be a decent (read: able to make a basic design) webdesigner wannabe before buying a domain but that’s silly! What better way to learn and be pushed to learn than when I’m paying every month to have the site up [or not as the case may be]? If that doesn’t work to motivate me, nothing will [kindly refrain from echoing that indeed, nothing will motivate me to get my life, starting with this website, together]!

This blog is not being powered by Movable Type, my first true love in content management systems. I’ve been doing some reading and many are singing the praises of the ease of installing a Word Press blog. I figured that I’d trade in the pain that I will be enduring over trying to figure out the web design aspects for the ease of installation. I will probably eventually install MT here on this domain and try to master them both. Right now though, I can definitely say that I agree fully with those who went WP simply for the ease of installation, because God knows I’d still be crying and pulling out my hair at this stage if I were trying to intall MT. I’ve done a bit of poking around, trying to see what I can do [easily] web design-wise and it looks like MT might have an advantage in that area but we shall see.

Ooohhh! I feel special! I am your first! ;)
